Blogger Recognition Award

I was nominated by the lovely Molly several months ago now for the blogger recognition award, and I’ve finally gotten around to posting it. 🙂 Make sure you read her answers here.

I’m so thankful to Molly for the nomination, it brightened my day when I first saw her Tweet and has put a smile on my face again today writing this post. It feels good to be recognised.

Blogger recognition award

Here are the rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief history of how your blog came to be.
  • Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
  • Select 15 of your fellow. bloggers to give this award to
  • Comment on their blog and let them know that you nominated them and provide a link to your post.

How my blog came to be:

To quote my ‘about me‘ page, Chimmyville has been around in some form since 11th August 2005, starting as a place to store my pixel creations and creative writing and developing into the lifestyle blog you see today.

But what first sparked my love of both web design and writing was my ICT course in college. We had a web design module where I created my first website; a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fansite on Geocities.

Advice for new bloggers:

Engagement: One of the best things I’ve found is to interact with other bloggers whether that’s commenting on their posts, getting involved with Twitter chats or asking for feedback. The blogging community is so supportive of each other

Scheduling: I know, scheduling can be very time consuming but it’s a great tool for promoting your content – for both new posts and given a little love to older ones. I use Buffer for Tweets and the WordPress Jetpack Plugin for Facebook and Google+. I’ve scheduling found invaluable especially during the weekdays when I’m at work, it’s a necessary ‘evil’.

Thank you again to Molly for nominating me. 🙂

I nominate:

  1. Jordanne of Life of a Glasgow Girl
  2. Bexa of Hello Bexa
  3. Sarah of Raiin-Monkey
  4. Laura of Merkitty
  5. Lauren of Bournemouth Girl
  6. Kelly of The Kelly Diane Report
  7. Gwennan of Gwennanrees.com
  8. Soph of Soph Hearts
  9. Victoria of Life in the Ginger Lane
  10. Britt of Alternatively Speaking
  11. Tracy of Blogger by the Sea
  12. Karin of Imaginary Karin
  13. Maria of Wrexhammama
  14. Beka of Beka Daisies

… and finally no. 15, you – the person reading this post. Maybe you’re a new blogger I haven’t discovered yet or a blogger I already interact with, I think we all deserve recognition for the hard work we put into our content. … Was that too sappy? 😦🤷

What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Congratulations on your nomination. Your advice for new bloggers is spot on. I’ve been so bad at scheduling stuff lately (and my stats have definitely reflected that) but it is a “necessary evil” as you say. 😉

Congratulations! I love twitter for engagement too but most of the bloggers that I know live in compeletely different time zone than mine so it’s hard to keep track and joining a blogger twitter chat is almost impossible

Thank you Rasya. 🙂 That must be difficult living in a different time zone, as I’m pretty sure most are UK or US time zones. Have you thought of holding your own? 🙂 x

    Thank you for the nomination!
I agree with the love for Twitter. I honestly wish someone had told me to get my butt on Twitter A LOT sooner than I did! It’s my favourite platform when it comes to connecting with other bloggers!

You’re welcome Britt. 🙂 Ive had Twitter for years but have only used it for connecting with other bloggers over the past 6 months or so. It’s an invaluable tool. x

Ah, congratulations on the award, Kim! And this is great advice, not just for new bloggers. I think many established bloggers forget that if you want engagement then you have to engage yourself. It’s no good expecting people to read your blog if you never respond or reciprocate. And I agree with the necessity for scheduling. It’s soooo boring but it’s essential, especially in the early days!
