Edinburgh & The Castle on the Hill

After our trip to Alnwick, Ryan and I continued our road trip up to Scotland and our next destination – Edinburgh. We spent 1 and a half days in the city and another at Edinburgh Zoo (post on that to follow!). I got very excited when I saw the “border crossing” layby and insisted we pull over to take some photos. There’s also a layby the other side for those travelling into England. It took around 1 and a half hours from Alnwick to Edinburgh along a beautiful coastal route. I tried to take some photos from the car but Read More…

Halloween tag

Happy Halloween! Tonight I’m donning some Ghostbusters pyjama bottoms, watching some Halloween themed films with my family (and likely some horror films too). I’m hoping we’ll see some trick or treaters as well. If you didn’t know by now Halloween is my favourite holiday, seconded by Christmas. When we were little my sister and I went trick or treating around our village with the other children there and a few chaperones. I think that’s where my love of Halloween and fancy dress began; my parents got very into it, carving pumpkins, decorating the house and playing some tricks on us. Read More…

Alnwick Castle and Gardens

Ryan and I have just gotten home from our road trip through part of England and Scotland. It was a long drive but I’m happy we did it instead of using public transport, we came across some picturesque towns and villages. Our holiday started with a 6 and a half hour drive up the Fosseway, an old Roman road connecting Exeter to Lincoln . According to our Google Map route we drove 14 hours and 40 minutes on our way up to Scotland! Alnmouth – seaviews and a haunted hotel Our first destination was the small seaside village of Alnmouth, Read More…

Relax and Unwind: Adult colouring ft Lady Lucas

I love to relax and unwind with an adult colouring book or by doing some oragami. I find both very theraputic and with the clocks going back, the nights are getting longer and days shorter. I enjoy cosy nights in this time of year so will be doing a lot more indoor activities like these. Not only are they relaxing and theraputic, I also get to be creative. ๐ŸŽจ So when Ashley of Lady Lucas contacted me to review some of her colouring pages, I couldn’t say no! Especially to her cute Halloween designs. ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ’› Cute characters colouring book This Read More…

Morning routines and becoming an early riser ๐Ÿฆ

Last month I talked about working on my evening and bedtime routines to help with my sleeping patterns and get a better nights sleep. One of the things I mentioned was getting up at the same time each day and developing a morning routine, it’s been hard going, especially after last weekend’s Monster Race! My muscles are so sore! I am definitely not a morning person but I am taking steps to make my mornings better and encourage myself to get out from under the covers. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ› 1. Being organised the night before Before I go start to relax Read More…

Monster Race

โ€œIf you canโ€™t run, walk. If you canโ€™t walk, crawl. If you canโ€™t crawl, find someone to carry youโ€. – Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly. In July I signed up for the Winter Monster Race in Wiltshire with some of my colleagues, where we raised money for a local children’s charity: Cirencester Opportunity Group who support children with physical and learning disabilities (you can sponsor us here, if you want to). The Monster races are obstacle course races (OCRs) and contain a range of man made and natural obstacles including climbing, crawling, carrying and wading through muddy water. The race is Read More…
