Scottish Highlands: Ben Nevis

After a busy few days in Edinburgh, Ryan and I continued our road trip and headed into the Scottish highlands. Our first stop was the Famous Grouse distillery which unfortunately wasn’t open for another hour when we arrived! 🙁 But we took some photos and made a note to go back again at some point. In fact there are many things we want to go back and do in the Highlands. We headed west towards Fort William and stopped off at a lovely cafe / hostel for breakfast on the way. Check out the stunning views we enjoyed while tucking Read More…

Edinburgh – The Royal Mile, Ghost Tours & Pubs

Our final day in Edinburgh took us down the Royal Mile. We got up early, hopped on the tram and headed straight for the castle on the hill. Which is the start of the Royal Mile and as the name suggests is roughly a mile! The castle was impressive up close and the hill gave great views over Edinburgh. I do think I loved Alnwick castle more though. We took some photos and a couple of selfies before heading to the gift shop. I added another pressed penny to my collection and some more magnets for our fridge. We headed Read More…

Vinyl love

When people ask me how I listen to music they’re often surprised to hear on a record player. We often have chats at work about it. There’s one lady who loves CDs and will never go digital and plenty of people with streaming services such as Google Music. But me, I love vinyls and have a small but growing collection of them.  Of course while I’m on the go I’ll pop in my headphones and listen to music on my phone but at home, I’ll stick on a vinyl. The first vinyl I got was the AC/DC Iron Man 2 soundtrack Read More…

Edinburgh Zoo

Our second day in Edinburgh (and the third day of our road trip) saw us taking a trip to Edinburgh Zoo. We got up early, picked up some lunch to take with us and had some breakfast. Ah, the benefit of having our hotel next to a supermarket. 😉 Edinburgh zoo was a short 10 minute drive from our hotel, on the outskirts of the city centre. Funnily, if we wanted to use public transport, we needed to get a tram from the city centre. Which meant driving was the best option for us. But if you do want to Read More…

Creating our home gym

I’ve been working on my daily routines this past year including improve my sleep schedule and morning routine. I have also been making an effort to eat healthier and exercise more. In the Summer months I threw on my work out gear and went for a run around our neighbourhood or made use of outdoor gyms. I also completed my first 5km race and a muddy obstacle race for charity. Now the weather has gotten colder I find myself staying in and doing more exercise at home. The most important part of working out at home is having enough space Read More…

Edinburgh & The Castle on the Hill

After our trip to Alnwick, Ryan and I continued our road trip up to Scotland and our next destination – Edinburgh. We spent 1 and a half days in the city and another at Edinburgh Zoo (post on that to follow!). I got very excited when I saw the “border crossing” layby and insisted we pull over to take some photos. There’s also a layby the other side for those travelling into England. It took around 1 and a half hours from Alnwick to Edinburgh along a beautiful coastal route. I tried to take some photos from the car but Read More…
