California, USA trip (Part 2 of 2)

This is part 2 of a series of blog posts about my trip to California with a few friends. If you missed part one, you can read it here. Day 4 – Alcatraz We got up early and made our way into San Francisco for our Alcatraz tour having prebooked our tickets online weeks before. If you’re thinking of going I’d highly recommend booking in advance as it gets very busy! As we had some time to kill before boarding the ferry we stopped off at the San Francisco Hard Rock Cafe; I was, disappointed. The vegan and gluten free Read More…

California, USA trip (Part 1 of 2)

Following on from my last post, I’d like to mention that I didn’t sleep at all on our flight to San Francisco and had been up for roughly 15 hours by the time we landed! I felt anxious as we went through customs control worrying if they’d let me in the country, 😅 but got through very quickly. I needn’t of worried. Friday, day 1 – My first trip to Wal-Mart Arriving in San Francisco we hopped in a taxi and made our way to our hotel, Double Tree by Hilton at Berkeley Marina (the featured image – copied below Read More…

Surviving my first long haul flight

A few weeks ago I hopped on a plane with a few friends and travelled a long 11 hours to the West coast of the United States. We had six days in San Francisco and one day in Los Angeles. The trip was fantastic (more on that next time) and I’m itching to go abroad to the US again very soon. I’d never been outside of Europe before so of course this was my first long haul, transatlantic flight. I was prepared but not as much as I thought I was! There were some things I packed for the flight Read More…

Nessie hunting on Loch Ness

It’s been a while since I last posted and even longer since my Scottish road trip back in October! I’ve been suffering with my mental health and took a break from blogging as well as social media. Ryan and I broke up in early December as well. After our tour of Fort William and Ben Nevis we headed further north to Loch Ness with hopes of finding the Loch Ness monster. 😉 We stayed at the Loch Less exhibition centre and had a Nessie hunting tour booked for the afternoon. The captain who took us out into the loch was Read More…

Scottish Highlands: Ben Nevis

After a busy few days in Edinburgh, Ryan and I continued our road trip and headed into the Scottish highlands. Our first stop was the Famous Grouse distillery which unfortunately wasn’t open for another hour when we arrived! 🙁 But we took some photos and made a note to go back again at some point. In fact there are many things we want to go back and do in the Highlands. We headed west towards Fort William and stopped off at a lovely cafe / hostel for breakfast on the way. Check out the stunning views we enjoyed while tucking Read More…

Edinburgh – The Royal Mile, Ghost Tours & Pubs

Our final day in Edinburgh took us down the Royal Mile. We got up early, hopped on the tram and headed straight for the castle on the hill. Which is the start of the Royal Mile and as the name suggests is roughly a mile! The castle was impressive up close and the hill gave great views over Edinburgh. I do think I loved Alnwick castle more though. We took some photos and a couple of selfies before heading to the gift shop. I added another pressed penny to my collection and some more magnets for our fridge. We headed Read More…
