Small Bedroom Decor Wishlist

Six months ago I moved back into my parents house (more detailed update on that to follow!) and I’m currently restyling my childhood bedroom having only brought a bed, wardrobe and small bookcase with me from my old flat.

When I’m looking for new furniture I’ll either head to Ikea or my local Sue Ryder charity shop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Sue Ryder they’re a national health and social care charity, who provide compassionate hospice and neurological care across the UK. Which I’m happy to support.

The furniture in my old flat (and my previous rentals) has been a collection of mix match items with one feature piece. In my old flat this was a feature fire place in the living room and I’m looking to do something similar in style with my new (“old”) bedroom.

Here are a few pieces I’m loving at the moment.

Bedding & Throws

With the Autumn and Winter season coming round now is a great time to update my bedspread with something Autumnal. I’m thinking dark purples or burnt oranges I can always count on Primark or Dunelm for bedding, soft furnishings and accessories.

Sierra Checked Pink Reversible Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set – £12+

Seriously Soft 220cm x 220cm Throw – £16

Bedside tables

I have very limited space next to my bed so a small, narrow bedside table is a must for me. Something big enough to pop my phone on charge for the evening and a book to read as I unwind for the night.

VIKHAMMER Bedside table – £55

Pair of wicker bedside units – £38.99

Chairs

Something I loved in my flat was a little reading nook in the corner so a small, comfy chair is a must for me. Sue Ryder have a great selection of chairs to suit all styles from vanity stools to velvet oyster chairs, to bright pink chairs – there’s something for everyone.

My pick would be the velvet button back chair in grey… Although I am torn between that and the berry colour as it’s one of my favourite shades. 💗

I love grey for furniture as it goes with everything. It’s a great netural to have and can be paired easily with your existing furniture and colour palette.

Other

While I was browsing the Ikea website I came across this plant pot which would be the perfect size to repurpose as a wastepaper basket / bin. No more Tesco carrier bags for me! 😉

SKURAR Plant pot – £5

I’m obsessed with candles and this candle from Primark is very cute! It’s in my favourite colour – purple – and I love the pattern. I’m definitely going to be on the look out next time I pop in.

Blossom candle – £2.50
What do you think of my selections? Would you have chosen something different? Let me know in the comments. 😊

I love the bedding set. I’m always on the look out for nice bedding sets.. it’s just hard because my fiance is so fussy. I love anything that looks nice, but he insists it has to be 100% cotton and bland.. but if it was just me, I’d probably pick something cute like the bedding set you’ve shown here! Hehe.

Ah, I know the feeling but I tend to just buy them anyway. 😉

Great post Kim, it can be really exciting styling a room up, thanks for sharing your ideas so far! Primark are fab for affordable, soft furnishings and they also have some interesting, quirky accessories. I like your idea of using a plant pot for a bin, the edges are so pretty. My bedroom is currently silver and purple. 🙂 xx

Thanks Helen! The plant pot also comes in other sizes so I may get a pen pot to go with my new bin. I’ve already ordered it. 🙂

You have great taste in picking all your items for your bedroom. When I buy throws, I look for either soft, furry or velvety. I’ve never seen a lace plant pot . It is so unique and different. I adore it. At first glance, I thought it was a wastebasket. I like the chairs and the colors you picked too.

      Thanks Deborah. 🙂

I know when I saw the plant pot I thought it was a waste paper bin too! I’ve since purchased it and hopefully it will arrive soon. I do love a warm fleecy throw, especially as we get further into Autumn and Winter.

The chairs are so cute! I was thinking about getting a chair in my room – however it prob would be my clothes dumping place haha. Candles are always a great accessory for a bedroom, makes it look cosy!

Haha, I can just see myself now, reading on top of a pile of clothes dumped on the chair. :’-)
