Things to do in Northumberland | Guest Post

How many of us take the time to explore our “own back yard”, whether that be your own country, state or county or even the town or city you live in? A staycation can be the perfect get away and something I’m trying to do more often. Next in my staycation series we’re taking a trip to the North of England with Rachael to a place high on my UK travel list – Northumberland. [Missed last week’s staycation post? Catch up here.] Rachael is a lifestyle blogger living in the North East of England with her husband. She’s a born Read More…

Things to do in The Rhondda Valleys | Guest post

How many of us opt to go aboard rather than explore our own country? Personally I love a staycation, they’re perfect for a weekend away (especially around a bank holiday!) and usually a lot easier, and cheaper to travel to. Over the next few weeks I’m teaming up with bloggers to talk about their local area and hopefully give you a few new staycation or day trip ideas. πŸ˜ŠπŸš˜πŸ›£πŸšŒπŸš‚πŸ›€ First up is Katie, a mum to a daughter and son from the South Wales Valleys. Katie mainly blogs about general life as well as local attractions! You can catch up Read More…

Staycation & birthday celebrations 2017

Ryan and I booked the first week of May off work with the original intention of a road trip through Ireland, but due to the unknown state of our housing situation towards the end of March (you can read more about that in my moving back in with your parents as an adult post) we decided to save the money just in case we needed it for a rental or renewal deposit or for storage rental. We decided to keep the week booked off and planned a staycation instead with plans to travel Ireland next year. Day 1 – Cardiff City Read More…

How we spent our Staycation part 2

A couple of months ago I talked about how Ryan and I spent our Staycation and that we had another one coming up in early May. The weather was bizarre this week, a mixture of rain, sun and thunderstorms, which meant we couldn’t do as many outdoor activities as we hoped. Sunday, we went to the Dragon Boat Reggatta in Gloucester where they had live music, some stalls and boat racing throughout the day. On the way home we took a detour to visit Ryan’s mum in the Forest of Dean. The weather was great, warm and sunny. On Monday Read More…

How we spent our Staycation

We had a Staycation last week, the weather was pretty good. Cloudy and not too warm on some of the days but the rain held off! πŸ™‚ In my last post I wrote a list of things we planned to do with our week off, here’s what we decided on. Monday was mostly spent at home and at the gym. Ryan has a weekly training session on a Monday and I have an evening class so we planned around these and had pepperoni pizza for dinner. Ryan’s mum was admitted to hospital Monday morning after breaking her hip and leg; Read More…

Staycation Planning

Ryan and I both have the next week off work and are planning a staycation (a vacation where we stay close to home or only travel within the UK). This is mostly because we have a big convention coming up on the 19th March and need to save for that, also Ryan doesn’t have a passport! Here are a few things we’ve been thinking about doing next week. Stay at home Get away from the world by keeping our use of electronic devices, especially mobile phones to a minimum and spend time with each other. Have a home spa day Read More…
