Welcome to Chimmyville – My Little Home on the Web

Hey there and welcome to Chimmyville, my new blog! If you’re here from the Q-Bee (pixel trading club) and would like to trade patches, please contact me. I’m still getting my new quilt up and running. 😊

If you’re new here, hi! My name is Kim, and I’m a lifestyle blogger from The Cotswolds (England) where I live with my parents and a few exotic pets. I’m in my early 20s, love all things Star Wars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, enjoy reading and like to travel. Be sure to check out my about me page if you’d like to know more!

My blog, Chimmyville has been around in some form since 11th August 2005, starting as a place to store my pixel creations and creative writing and developing into my new lifestyle blog, that you’re seeing today. Here I’ll be talking about my life, interests and sharing a baking recipe or two.

The name Chimmvyille comes from a combination of my college nickname Chimmykins (or Chimmy for short) and the French word “Ville” meaning town or place. It’s pronounced ‘Ch’ as in church, ‘immy’ as in Kimmy and ‘ville’ as in village.

A to Z of me

I’ve seen this ‘A to Z of me’ tag doing the rounds recently and thought it would be a great way for me to introduce myself a little more. So, let’s get started…

A is for Ants. I can’t stand them! It all stems back to accidentally sitting in an ant’s nest when I was little. I got bitten a lot.

B is for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My favourite TV show of all time!

C is for Creative (and also for Chimmyville!). I love being creative and will give anything a go. From drawing to painting and sewing to tapestry. My newest ‘thing’ has been photo manipulation in Photoshop and photography.

D is for Dalmatians. I’ve always loved the Disney movie 101 Dalmatians and my dream pet would be a Dalmatian, however, I’ve heard they can be difficult to take care of(?).

E is for Euro Militaire. A hobbyist show that I’ve been attending every year since I was 6 years old.

F is for France. The first country I visited outside of the UK.

G is for Gizmo. My nickname which I got given after the character Gizmo from Gremlins. When I was little I used to carry a Gizmo cuddly toy around with me.

H is for horror movies. I love the genre and my favourite has to be Hellraiser which just so happens to be another ‘H’.

K is for Kindness. I believe being kind and showing manners and respect are good personality traits to have.

L is for Linkin Park. One of my favourite bands! It’s my dream to see them live one day.

M is for Marmite. You either love it or you hate it right? Well, I love it! On toast, in a sandwich, even in a pasta dish. 💗

N is for Norway. One of my dreams is to see the Northern Lights.

O is for Organised. I’m good at planning, list-making and strive for productivity.

P is for Penguins. My favourite animal.

Q is for Quiet. I am happy my own company and relish the peace and quiet.

R is for Rock. My favourite genre of music.

S is for Star Wars. My first fandom!

T is for Tuna Fish. One of my favourite sandwich fillings (besides Marmite or chicken) is tinned tuna in spring water. It’s also great in a pasta dish.

U is for the USA. The country I most want to visit, especially to New York City.

V is for Video Games. One of my favourite ways to unwind is with a video game, I have a few retro consoles including a Sega Mega Drive that I enjoy playing.

W is for Walking. I love a long nature walk around the small towns and villages near me.

X is for Xenomorph. I’m a huge fan of the horror movie genre including sci-fi horror such as the Alien movie franchise. The Xenomorphs are great horror movie creatures to watch.

Y is for YA. I love reading young adult fiction and have been known to stay up all night just to finish a book.

Z is for Zoo. I love going to the zoo! Especially when they have monkeys or penguins. 😍🐵🐧
