Weymouth – a trip down memory lane

Weymouth is one of my favourite places to go on holiday in the UK, my family used to go here every year and either stay at a campsite here or down the road at Westbay. We’ve also stayed in The Bridport Arms, Westbay as well.

There are so many things to do in this part of the UK from fossil hunting in Lulworth Cove to the dinosaur museum in Lyme Regis. The lighthouse at Portman Bill to the beach at Weymouth itself. My parents often go to the Tank Museum at nearby Bovington.

It’s a great part of the UK for a weekend break or longer and, recently Ryan and I came to Weymouth on a weekend camping trip where we stayed in nearby Osmington. Home of the Osmington White Horse.

I was happy to see that Weymouth hadn’t changed much since my childhood, the old men still offer row boat trips across one side of the harbour to the other, you can still catch a Punch and Judy show on the beach, the sandman is still building sand sculptures and the clock is still standing.

A couple of changes though The House on Pooh (cafe) is now The Corner House Cafe, which I found out when I visited for my 21st birthday.

We stopped in for a burger and a milkshake, and I was disappointed to see the The Brewers Quay no longer had many shops and the upstairs was empty. The staircase up was blocked. 🙁

Despite that, I really enjoyed our weekend trip and my trip down memory lane. 🙂
