My Tarantula Died From a Bad Molt – R.I.P. Hermy

For those that don’t know we have a few exotic pets in our family. Great African land snails (named Bryan, Swirly, Slug-a-lug and Gary) and a male Chilean Rose Hair tarantula (named Hermy). Sadly my tarantula died last week from a bad molt. πŸ™ I’m devastated. Hermy had been part of our family since 2008. Now I realise a lot of people hate spiders, but Hermy was my pet. I was attached to him like any person is to their pet; like a cat owner to their cat or a dog owner to their dog. I enjoyed watching Hermy crawl […]

Hallowhedon 2 Cosplay Experience

Last weekend was Hallowhedon 2, a 3-day unofficial convention celebrating the various TV shows created by Joss Whedon. It was also my first solo cosplay experience! Having previously cosplayed as a Lornette (with my mum) at the first Hallowhedon. I decided very early on that my Hallowhedon 2 cosplay would be Kaylee Frye. Hallowhedon 2 Cosplay Experience Cosplay is something I’d like to do more of so, for this convention, I went as Firefly mechanic Kaylee Frye. Played by the lovely Jewel Staite, who was also attending as a guest that weekend. But even before Jewel was announced as a […]

Hallowhedon | UK Joss Whedon Convention

I know it’s been a while since my last update. I’ve been focusing on getting well so blogging took a bit of a back seat. But I am happy to say that speech therapy has really helped and I’m more or less, talking normally again. There are still a few days I struggle if my throat is particularly dry however. And I have damaged my high vocal cords, meaning I can’t scream. Which may have come in handy for Hallowhedon last weekend (no that’s not a typo! I’ll explain soon…) πŸ˜‰ Seriously though, I’m just happy to have my voice […]

Laryngitis Treatment – My Experience with Speech Therapy

Hey there, for those of you that aren’t aware, I have been suffering from chronic laryngitis since May and was referred to an ear, nose and throat specialist. Which is why things have been so quiet around here lately(!) and probably will be for the foreseeable future. As well as seeing a specialist, my doctor has also recently referred me to speech therapy. The specialist I saw couldn’t find anything physically wrong with my vocal cords or voice box, yet I still have little voice and some days, no voice at all. He was unsympathetic and didn’t explain what the […]

Coping with Chronic Laryngitis | Treatments & Diagnosis

Hey there! It’s been a while since my last post about my 21st birthday. I’ve been very unwell recently, so blogging took a bit of a back seat this month. At first, it started with a cold then developed into sinusitis and laryngitis, thankfully the sinusitis cleared up with antibiotics. My laryngitis, however, is getting progressively worse. I have very little voice and some days no voice at all. It’s been five weeks since the initial diagnosis with my doctor meaning what they thought was acute laryngitis is in fact, chronic laryngitis. What is chronic laryngitis? Laryngitis is when your […]

My 21st Birthday Staycation

After my parents threw me a party for my 18th, I knew I wanted something a bit more relaxed to celebrate my 21st birthday. Don’t get me wrong I’m very thankful to them for throwing the party for me and I especially loved my Buffy cake(!). πŸ˜‰ But wanted a more chilled 21st. Especially as I haven’t been feeling too well lately. As luck would have it my Auntie Val was planning a trip to the UK over my birthday, so my mum and I decided to go on a few day trips with her. My auntie lives in the […]
