Happy Easter (or happy Sunday to those that don’t celebrate it). 🙂 Today, Artur and I had a lovely Sunday lunch at my parents house, my job was to bring dessert. I made cupcakes, sugar cookies and these chocolate cornflake nests, very easy to make but always a favourite in my family. To make these you will need: 100g chocolate (plain or milk) 50g butter 75g cornflakes Method Break up the chocolate and cut the butter into small pieces Put in a large bowl over a pan of boiling water, stir until melted. You could also pop it in the […]
I wanted to make a Christmas pudding this Christmas but no one I know likes the taste! I found a similar Christmas pudding cake on the Lakeland website, this is my take on it. I used their medium hemisphere pans (so mine is a lot smaller than the one they made). For the cake, you will need: 340g margarine 340g caster sugar 6 eggs 340g self-raising flour 1 tsp vanilla essence 30g cocoa powder For the Filling 50g butter 250g icing sugar 1-2 tsp water 1 tsp jam Brown food colouring To Decorate White rolling icing Green food colouring Red […]
Hello! You may have noticed a lot of down time on my website lately, long story short, I was over the bandwidth available for the package I was on! It’s now been upgraded and I’m back. 🙂 There’s a bunch of updates I want to do and some things I want to finish with my website, more on that later. My “online” life lately has been spent social networking: Facebook, Twitter, fourms and as I’ve gotten back into baking lately, I’ve been browsing/using the Cut Out + Keep craft site a lot, which has been around since 2007. Here’s a […]
A quick and easy receipe for Nutella cookies, I’ve made these a couple of times for Artur. He loves Nutella® and really enjoyed these. You will need 70g plain flour 1 large egg 275g Nutella® Method Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Combine flour, egg and Nutella® in a large bowl and mix well. Roll the cookie dough into balls, place on the prepared tray and press down on the balls to create thick discs. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, they should be slightly soft in the middle. Leave to cool on a wire rack until set.
At the beginning of 2012, I made a list of goals I wanted to achieve this year. So as we’re now over half way through the year, I thought I’d have a look at whether I’ve stuck to those goals and how they’ve changed! 2012 Goals Review Goal set: Cook and Bake more often I have baked a few novelty cakes and some classic recipes, like a Victoria Sponge, but would like to try other baked goods. I’d also like to learn to cook. I can cook fairly simple recipes, such as spaghetti bolognaise but would like to learn more […]
I’ve been playing a mobile game called Baking Story recently, and the most recent level introduced some mint choc chip cupcakes! My favourite ice cream flavour… In cupcake form!? I knew I had to give them a try in real life for myself. Which you can see a snippet off in the left-hand corner, but as I had some cake mix leftover, I decided to make a mint choc chip cake as well. And I love how it turned out. I used my heart-shaped cake pan from Lakeland and layered the cake with the mint flavoured frosting. It was delicious! […]
