Happy Birthday to me

Saturday was my birthday and also free comic book day at the new comic book / collectables store that opened up in my home town. Of course I went in and had a look! But first breakfast at The Little Chef, I had a stack of American style pancakes and presents at my house (my parents came over to celebrate with me).

After browsing the comic book / collectables store we went to see Captain America: Civil War at the new IMAX cinema that opened up recently. We saw the film in regular 3D but plan to see Suicide Squad in IMAX when it’s released this Summer.

I’ve previously seen two IMAX films before, one on a school trip to London but that was more of a documentary, I remember sharks and other sea life. It was a long time ago. The other was the last Harry Potter film.

The film was awesome. Really enjoyed the action and the dialogue between the characters, great storyline.

After the cinema we went out for food at an Italian restaurant, Piazza Fontana, which we’d reserved a table for under the name ‘Helen Magnus’ (my dad’s idea).

Helen Magnus is the main character in the tv show Sanctuary and is played by Amanda Tapping. There is an ongoing side story in the show where her colleagues and friends book a table at a fancy italian restaurant in her name to guarantee they get a table.

Guess we can check that off some geeky bucket list. 😉

The food at the restaurant was really good, I had chicken with spaghetti in red sauce, Ryan had a calzone and my parents had penne pasta with chicken and mushrooms (mum) and chicken with asparagus and roast potatoes (dad).

After dinner we went out for some drinks and a bit of dancing.

Sunday, there was cake! 🙂 – Mum had forgotten to bring it over with her on the Saturday!

Pressies! 🙂

Sounds like you had an amazing birthday! I hope for many more. Also, what’s the different between an American pancake and what are normal in your neck of the woods? Totally curious!

      Ours are more like crepes.
Slightly different recipes and ingredients for both kinds, I prefer American pancakes.

    Happy belated birthday!

Oh wow, I did not know you could book a table like that and actually get in! I guess you learn something new every day? I kind of like that idea, honestly.

Wow, I love the food pictures! Makes me hungry for Italian food now. Haha.

Happy belated birthday! 😀 Sounds like you had a pretty nice day, love all the Star Wars presents!
I haven’t seen Captain America yet but I’m dying to go, everyone who has seen it says it’s really good.

I like the idea of having a restaurant booking under the name of a character or something like that! It would give me a good laugh.

    Happy birthday! 🙂
