My Birthday Celebrations in Lockdown

My “lockdown birthday” was last week – May 7th to be exact – and as I’m writing this I’m certainly feeling the post-birthday blues. And I’m quite sad it’s over for another year. Usually, we go out for the day, or to one of my favourite restaurants, but it was nice to have a relaxing day at home instead. There were also some unexpected surprises (all from a safe distance, of course) from a few of my loved ones. Celebrating my birthday in lockdown wasn’t something I was expecting but it turned out to be one of the best. Aaron […]

30 things I’ve learnt in 30 years

On May 7th 2018 I turned 30, which seems like such a long time ago now but I wanted to mark the occasion in some way. Anyone else think this year is really flying by? I celebrated my 30th birthday with a Star Wars themed party which my sister planned for me. It was a surprise party and I honestly had no idea she was doing it. It was perfect from themed food, to family and friends in costume and props being on display – I loved it. She also held it on May the fourth: Star Wars day. Here’s […]

Caramac cake

My mum’s birthday was this week and we went out for a birthday meal on Thursday to celebrate, I asked the pub ahead of time if I could bring a cake which they agreed to. My mum loves Caramac bars so I decided to make her a vanilla and chocolate swirl cake with Caramac decorations. The most challenging part of this cake was finding a lot of Caramac at a reasonable price, with supermarkets wanting £1.50 per bar and shops online catering more to wholesale (I didn’t need 25 or 50 bars of Caramac!). I eventually found the bars at […]

Happy Birthday to me

Saturday was my birthday and also free comic book day at the new comic book / collectables store that opened up in my home town. Of course I went in and had a look! But first breakfast at The Little Chef, I had a stack of American style pancakes and presents at my house (my parents came over to celebrate with me). My hall from the comic book / collectables store… After browsing the comic book / collectables store we went to see Captain America: Civil War at the new IMAX cinema that opened up recently. We saw the film […]

My Birthday 2015

May 7th was my birthday and I decided to book a few days off work to celebrate. Wednesday 6th May I was surprised by Ryan by a mini birthday celebration, my sister also came over as they both had work on my actual birthday. There were presents and a mini cake complete with sparkler and candles… I swear Ryan made a mistake with my age through. 😉 Thursday – Sclub7! Last year mum, Kelly and I went to see McBusted on my birthday. This year it was Sclub7! My inner 90s / 00s child is very happy! Mum and I […]

Coping with Chronic Laryngitis | Treatments & Diagnosis

Hey there! It’s been a while since my last post about my 21st birthday. I’ve been very unwell recently, so blogging took a bit of a back seat this month. At first, it started with a cold then developed into sinusitis and laryngitis, thankfully the sinusitis cleared up with antibiotics. My laryngitis, however, is getting progressively worse. I have very little voice and some days no voice at all. It’s been five weeks since the initial diagnosis with my doctor meaning what they thought was acute laryngitis is in fact, chronic laryngitis. What is chronic laryngitis? Laryngitis is when your […]
