Strawberry drizzle cake

Mother’s Day was last month (in the UK, I know it’s not until May in some countries) and I surprised mine with a Strawberry drizzle cake, we also took her out for the day. Most fondant decorations were hand made (can you tell? πŸ˜‰ ) and my first attempt at something like this. I used a butterfly fondant cutter and small cookie cutters for the letters (the daisies were store bought). For the cake For the cake: 175g unsalted butter, softened 175g golden caster sugar 2 tsp strawberry flavouring and additional for icing 2 medium eggs, beaten 175g self raising Read More…

Minnie Mouse giant cupcake

It took two attempts at baking, the first cake did not rise correctly and got stuck in the silicone mould, the second didn’t rise into the “tip” of the mould. I always seem to have issues baking with silicone moulds. INGREDIENTS 2Β½ cups of self raising flour 1Β½ cups caster sugar 250g unsalted butter (softened) 6 eggs 2 tsp Vanilla flavouring Approx 200g jam for the filling and to stick on the white chocolate fingers For decorating Pink frosting Read More…

Motorbike cake

This cake was made for Artur’s birthday back in May and is my second novelty cake… I cheated and bought the edible motorbike decoration. πŸ˜‰ The cake itself was a chocolate sponge, covered in white rolling icing that I painted green and black with food colouring. Next time, I’ll probably use coloured rolling icing for something like this. For the cake, you will need: 170g unsalted butter, softed, not melted 170g caster sugar 115g self-raising flour 3 eggs 55g cocoa powder White rolling icing Green food colouring Black food colouring Fondant decorations Confectioners sugar Water Method Preheat the oven to Read More…
