Mother’s Day at Swind-Con

March 6th was Mother’s day in the UK (I know some countries celebrate it in May) and my dad and I took my mum out to Swind-Con for the day on the Saturday held at M.E.C.A. in Swindon. Her choice!

We started off for breakfast in our usual café (Brogans) where I had a bacon and cheese panini, mum had poached egg on toast and dad had a “Brogan’s breakfast” (basically a large full English) , then headed to the convention which was held in The Meca in Swindon town centre.

It was a small venue but had a fair few dealers, a cosplay competition, props to take photos of or photos with and guests including the 5th, 6th and 7th doctors (Doctor Who). I’ve met all three before, they’re very friendly. Unfortunately Sylvestor Mcoy cancelled the morning of convention but I did meet Peter Davidson and got him to sign my “Lego” Doctor Who set.

I also witnessed Jeremy Bulloch (Star Wars) having his photo taken with the two Doctors ( Peter Davidson and Colin Baker ) at the double photo shoot. He must be a Doctor Who fan! 😉

The last time I met Sylvestor Mcoy he was humbled when I told him he is my favourite doctor, he was the man playing the doctor when I was younger and I had a few action figures or him and the Daleks. Probably still do in my parents loft!

A few photos from the convention (click to see the full size image):

After the convention we went to the cinema to watch London has Fallen (mum’s choice), it was a really good film. Presently surprised. 🙂

On the Sunday we went out for lunch at The Waggon and Horses where my sister works and mum opened her presents.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I like that your mom chose to spend Mother’s Day at a convention! I haven’t watched Doctor Who, but I think that’s really cool that you’ve met the actors who have played the different doctors, including your favorite one. Sounds like you had a great weekend!
