Oreo brownie tray bake

How many times have you seen a baking or cooking video on Facebook you like, intend to make, but never do? Sound familiar?

My friend Kelly and I saw a video for a oreo brownie tray bake and decided to replicate it. Unfortunately I can no longer find the video to link or share with you. 🙁

We chose the quick and easy method of a boxed brownie mix and oreo cookies. The recipe video didn’t give any instructions for making the brownie batter itself it just said “brownie” as it was poured into the pan.

Yes, we could have made the batter but we were going for quick and easy. 😉

You will need
1 box brownie mix (415g)
40ml vegetable oil (3 tbsp)
75ml water (5 tbsp)
1 medium egg

Combine the brownie mix with the egg, vegetable oil and water until it’s of a dropping consistency.

Spoon half the mixture into the baking dish and smooth it out evenly.

Top the mixture with 1 packet of oreos and cover with the remaining brownie mixture.

We placed the remaining oreos in a sandwich bag and crushed them with a potato masher, once they were crushed we sprinkled on top of the brownie mixture.

The end result…

It was very good! We would probably have less crushed oreos on top next time and some vanilla ice cream to serve.

I am useless in the kitchen… wonder if I can get my baking-loving teenager to oblige!

Sounds (and looks) great!! Did the Oreos in the middle stay crunchy or did they get soft?

Thanks! 🙂 The ones in the middle got soft but the ones around the edges were crunchier.

I’ve made brownies from scratch before, but I still really like ones from brownie mixes! The box mixes have this nice, chewy texture that I find hard to replicate. That looks delicious to mix brownies with oreos. Sounds like it’d be great with vanilla ice cream 🙂

That’s totally delicious. I’m so saving this recipe, only because I love both oreos and brownies.

Looks and sounds delicious, my mouth waters at the thought of that. Especially with some good vanilla ice-cream
