The Lord of the Rings Tag | Celebrating 20 Years of The Fellowship

The 10th December 2021, marks 20 years(!) since the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at the Odeon Leicester Square in London…That makes me feel old, lol! 😅 I was 13 when the first movie was released and have such fond memories of seeing the trilogy with my family. Even if my sister did fall asleep in the cinema. 😉

So, I thought it only right to celebrate one of my favourite movie series with The Lord of the Rings tag – actually two The Lord of the Rings tags. But first, I want to share some of the events happening over the world in celebration of the 10 year anniversary.

Celebrating 20 Years of the Fellowship

4K remaster

To celebrate 20 years of The Fellowship of the Ring (movie), Peter Jackson’s team has been working on a new 4K remaster of the original trilogy and a 4K version of the Hobbit trilogy, too. Both the original cinematic cut and the extended editions of all six
movies are expected to be available.

Celebrate at The Hobbiton movie set

What could be better than watching The Fellowship of the Ring in the grounds of the actual Hobbiton movie set? With a 13″ screen and plenty of Lord of the Rings themed activities to enjoy, too. Including, a fully guided tour of The Hobbiton movie set, Hobbit Southfarthing beverages on tap throughout the evening, a light dinner and dessert served from the marketplace, and Green Dragon Inn, and more.

Warharmmer World Anniversary Collection

Popular stratergy battle game company Warhammer will be featuring numerous Middle-earth displays in their exhibition hall. Including fan-made pieces and three dioramas depicting key scenes from the movie – Weathertop, Balin’s Tomb, and Amon Hen.
But that’s not all – early next year, they are releasing some of their classic Lord of the rings sets, in their ‘Made to Order’ series.

Have you read the books?
Yes, a couple of times. But not since the movies were released! I think I’m long overdue a re-read.

Provided you’ve read the books, which is your favorite?
The Fellowship of the Ring.

Have you read the Hobbit?
Yes, multiple times. The first time was in primary school, and I got told off for reading ahead! Yep, I was told off for reading too much, lol.

Have you read any Lord of the Rings companions? Not movie companions, but Middle Earth and book companions?
No, I haven’t.

Have you seen the movies?
Many times. 😊 The most recent was during the winter lockdown in 2020.

Have you read any movie guides? If so, which one(s)?
Nope.

Which is your favorite movie?
Probably, The Two Towers.

What’s your favorite scene from the trilogy?
Just one?! Well, I’d have to say where Gandalf comes charging down the hill as the sun rises. The imagery is simply stunning – as are many shots in these movies.

What scenes do you find exceptionally touching?
Most scenes involving Sam, he’s such a good friend to Frodo. One notable example is “I can’t carry it for you. But I can carry you!”.

Have you seen the extended movies?
Yep, its the only way to watch them. 😉 I also own the trilogy on Blu Ray.

Tell us your three favorite characters (good luck narrowing it down) and why.
Sam, for his loyalty and courage, Aragorn for his selfless
bravery, and Merry and Pippin (they come as a pair, OK?) for comedic relief.

Who bugs you the most in the terms of being really annoying (but not necessarily wicked?)

Grima Wormtongue.

What are your feelings on Boromir?
He’s misunderstood.

Who do you like better, Aragorn or Faramir?
Aragorn.

Which Lord of the Rings weapon would you use?
A bow.

What do you think about Eowyn?
She’s a very brave woman and a strong female character.

If you were going into battle, which character would you want to take with you?
Aragorn.

Which girl is your favorite?
Arwen.

Which hobbit is your favorite?
Samwise Gamgee.

Which location is your favorite?
The Shire! I want to visit the sets in New Zealand.
