Sunday lunch at The Golden Farm, Cirencester

Last month, the Sunday after my mum’s birthday in fact, my parents treated me to Sunday lunch at the newly reopened Golden Farm pub, it’s local to us with a rustic decor – farm animal art work, a plough hanging from the ceiling and a hare statue which is part of the Cotswold Hare trail (I’ll have to remember to take some photos next time). For lunch they were offering a main course for £9.95 with a choice of beef, chicken, pork, lamb. I had the chicken and my parents both had the pork, all the dishes were served with Read More…

Healthy lunch: Tuna and mixed bean pasta salad

I’ve been trying to ‘spice up’ my lunches at work after getting bored of sandwiches and getting into a bad habit of choosing unhealthy snacks from Tesco meal deals! At Weight Watchers these past couple of weeks we’ve been talking about proteins, good carbohydrates and good fats. I made this pasta dish for lunch last week and really enjoyed it, so much in fact that I made it again this week! You will need One tin of tuna in spring water, drained One tin of mixed beans, drained and rinsed Wholewheat pasta Fresh basil Lemon juice Method Cook 75g of Read More…

No bake banoffee cheesecake

My mum’s birthday was Friday, we went out that night and listened to live music at a local bar followed by presents and an Indian takeaway Saturday evening. For my dad’s birthday I made a Double Decker cheesecake which was such a hit my mum requested a cheesecake for her birthday too. We chose banoffee which is one of her favourite flavours, it had a digestive base topped with mashed bananas, mascarpone and double cream for the filling, and decorated with pipped caramel and slices of fresh banana. You will need. For the base 300g Digestives 150g Butter For the filling Read More…

No bake Double Decker cheesecake

My dad’s birthday was Wednesday, so we went for food at a local pub, called The Golden Farm, to celebrate. It’s re-opened under new management and this was our first time trying the new menu. Wednesday is their grill night! Steaks, chicken, cumberland sausage, scampi and a vegetarian dish were offered, as well as a few specials. I chose the garlic chicken dish and Dad enjoyed a gammon steak with egg, the meals were cooked by my sister’s partner who works there. All the dishes were served with garlic bread, chips and a side salad, mum and Ryan had Cumberland Read More…

Dinner date to Piazza Fontana

Ryan and I haven’t gone out to eat, just the two of us in a while – in fact it may have even been around this time last year! Now don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of lovely date nights in and have gone to the cinema and the theatre for a comedy show recently, but we haven’t been out to eat. We both prefer home cooking (or a cheeky take away! 😉 ), also Ryan’s a professional Chef and can be very picky about where he goes to eat!   So last Friday the 10th we went Read More…

Best for Breakfast – Cheltenham & Swindon

I know I’ve touched on this before with my favourite places to eat in Cirencester post, but wanted to talk about my favourite places to eat a bit further afield. Namely in Cheltenham and Swindon which I go to often for shopping and cinema trips. Best for breakfast around Cirencester Cheltenham There are two places we usually go for breakfast in Cheltenham; Fresh Crust pasty shop and Bill’s. We’ve been going to Fresh Crust pasty shop for years now, back when it was in Cheltenham’s Beechwood shopping centre and now with its shop in Regent Street. I highly recommend it. Read More…
