Breakfast at The Gateway, South Cerney
On one of our recent shopping trips together, my dad and I stopped in The Gateway at South Cerney for breakfast. Neither of us had been there before but decided to try it out and hoped it would become another of our regular breakfast stops. Spoiler – it has. 😀
The Gateway is situated by one of the many lakes at South Cerney watermark, which I previously mentioned when Ryan and I went paddle boarding earlier this year. It’s a short walk from their in fact and the Costwold Outdoor is opposite, there’s an abundance of free parking and is a great meeting place or stop for walkers and cyclists visiting the area.
The cafe wasn’t overly busy when we arrived but it did pick up while we were eating. I can imagine it gets very busy in peak season!
My dad had a full English (of course) and I tucked into a stack of American style pancakes, which were served with bacon and maple syrup. You could also have them with blueberries.
The service was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. We ordered at the counter, I picked up a couple of cold drinks from the fridge and they handed us a table number. We sat down at a table with a view of the lakes and they brought our food over to us. There are also some picnic benches outside, but you don’t get the nice view.
The food is reasonably priced and the breakfast menu is served all day, which I love. Who says you can’t have breakfast for lunch or dinner? 😉 There’s also a selection of lovely looking cakes on offer, maybe next time. 🙂

Lovely post Kim, I enjoyed your chatty review of this café. I could just eat pancakes, I don’t have them very often, but they are a real treat when I do. My parents and I had a drink and cake at The Stray Café on Friday. I had a sprinkle sponge cake and a blueberry green tea, the weather was very kind to us too! 🙂 xx
