• Happy Birthday Dad! Celebrating with a Star Trek Cake

My dad’s birthday was on Tuesday, but as it was a ‘school night’ we decided to celebrate Saturday evening instead with a delicious Indian takeaway and movie night. His choice. We also went to the Crudwell Strawberry Fayre during the day. Unfortunately my sister was working and couldn’t make it so we decided to do presents and cake Tuesday evening so we could all be there. We also had…

  • What to do with travel guides, pamphlets and brochures

If you’re like me you have dozens of travel guides, pamphlets and brochures cluttering up your house… Here’s some of mine… I’ve been storing them in a magazine rack with my small but growing collection of vinyls. I didn’t want to part with them as I do intend to visit all the places advertised in them at some point but I wanted them tidier and more easily accessible. My solution?…

  • Prophecy | Buffy the Vampire Slayer convention

Prophecy was this past weekend – a three day convention for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and my first convention by this organiser (Rouge Events) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The main draw for me was meeting Alyson Hannigan but unfortunately she cancelled 3 weeks before the event. 🙁 I was gutted! As were many others who had purchased tickets to the convention. The company actually had…

  • Cirencester Patron’s Lunch

Today (Sunday 12th), the grounds of the Royal Agricultural University were transformed into a classic, British street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Mirroring the national ‘street party’ celebration taking place on the Mall in London. The driveway was lined with tables and decorated with bunting and balloons. The tables could be reserved, for a fee, which included a hamper, many people were also having picnis on the playing…

  • Swindon Film and Comic Con 2016

This past weekend was Swindon Film and Comic Con (not to be confused with Swind-Con that I went to earlier this year – different organisers) which was held at The Steam Museum, Swindon. See Mr. Stay Puft watching over things in the background? 😉 I love smaller conventions, they’re a lot quieter and tend to be more personal. This one was very well organised, the staff were knowledgeable and helpful,…

  • MCM Expo London 2016

Today (Saturday) was my first time attending MCM Expo London and it will probably be the last. Queuing to get in the venue, getting our tickets scanned and getting our wrist bands was flawless, couldn’t fault it but there were so many organisational errors once we got inside the venue! It nearly ruined the day. We booked tickets in advance, as they were selling out and likely to be none…

  • How we spent our Staycation part 2

A couple of months ago I talked about how Ryan and I spent our Staycation and that we had another one coming up in early May. The weather was bizarre this week, a mixture of rain, sun and thunderstorms, which meant we couldn’t do as many outdoor activities as we hoped. Dragon Boat Racing in Gloucester Sunday, we went to the Dragon Boat Reggatta in Gloucester where they had live…

  • Happy Birthday to me

Saturday was my birthday and also free comic book day at the new comic book / collectables store that opened up in my home town. Of course I went in and had a look! But first breakfast at The Little Chef, I had a stack of American style pancakes and presents at my house (my parents came over to celebrate with me). My hall from the comic book / collectables…

  • Should you follow your dreams?

Recently I shared my wish/life list with some members of my family which was mostly met with laughter and comments of me needing to win the lottery, but it left me thinking – should you follow your dreams? I like this quote by Joe Vitale — ‘A goal should scare you a little, and excite you a lot.’ Most of us are told at a young age to always follow…
