Euro Militaire 2015

More or less every year since I was 6 or 7, my family and I have taken a trip to Kent in September for Euro Militaire. It is known as the world’s premier military modelling show.

Euro Militaire 2015 is its 30th anniversary show.

My dad has entered some of his models into the competition in the past and one various awards. He is currently working on a 2 year project which was not ready for this year’s show.

The show itself includes ~100 trade stands selling a diverse range of products from across the hobby, including kits, paints diorama accessories etc, a modelling competition, raffles, military / memorial displays and this year actor Jason Salkey who played Harris in the TV show Sharpe.

It’s not all about military, the largest competition class for entries tends to be the fantasy class, which I enjoy. My dad is both a fantasy and military modeller.

Here are a few of my favourites from this year (mainly fantasy figures) – click on each to see the full size image.

While we’re in Kent we spend time with a family friend, do a bit of shopping and sight seeing (if time allows or if we’re staying 2-3 nights).

A few photos of the ‘Road of Remembrance’ knitted poppies in Folkestone this year.
