Winter Travel Ideas for Any Time of Year

While travelling around Christmas can be more expensive. It’s certainly the most magical time of year, and there’s something extra special about seeing everything covered in snow, too! But that’s not the only option, with the different hemispheres offering very different climates this time of year. Ensuring there’s Winter travel ideas to suit everyone.

Skiing or Snowboarding

Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or want to try something new on your Winter travels. Skiing or snowboarding could be the perfect idea for you, and there’s so many different locations to choose from, too. Even in the UK – with our selection of indoor and / or outdoor dry slopes.

But if you’re looking to get outside of the UK then the Village of Chamonix on the Swiss Italian border, is a beautiful choice! Home to the highest mountain in Europe: Mount Blanc, and with easy Chamonix Transfers from Geneva airport, it’s easy to see why this Winter sports destination is so popular.

Don’t fancy hitting the slopes? How about warming up with a hot drink – hot choclate for me, please 😋 – in a chalet, or relaxing in a private spa.

Winter City Breaks

There’s something about a Winter City break that always makes me feel refreshed. Whether that’s a quick trip to recharge after Christmas, a weekend away with a loved one, or even a work retreat – it’s guaranteed to make me feel better. Of course, depending on the time of year, you could also indulge in Christmas markets, or soak up some Summer sun. My team and I recently had a series of workshops in Mallorca, for example.

Lapland

Symmonious with Christmas, the Lapland countries of Finland, Sweden, and Norway are the ultimate Winter travel destination. I mean who doesn’t want to visit the home of Santa Claus, right? Sadly, I’ve never been (yet), but my fiancé has found memories of visiting “The North Pole” when he was little.

But it’s not only Santa Claus Village that these countries have to offer. You can also see artic species by visiting zoos or National Parks. I visited Helsinki Zoo myself, and loved seeing their reindeer and bison in real life. As well as trying to spot the Northern Lights or even staying in an ice hotel or igloo!

Fun in the Sun – Winter Travel Ideas for the Summer Lover

Of course, not everyone wants to  be out in the cold and may be craving warmer weather. I hear you! Luckily there are many destinations with a warmer climate this time of year – some considerably hotter and others more like a hot Summer in the UK. Such destinations include the Maldives, Hawaii, or Barbadoes. Or perhaps you’d enjoy a cruise exploring the Caribbean or other tropical destinations?

Disneyland Paris

If you’ve never experienced the magic of Disneyland Paris at Christmas, you’re in for a treat! From the decorations, to the Christmas parades, seasonal merchandise and characters meet-and-greets, and even themed foods. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
