20 Goals for 2020 (A Mini Bucket List)
Happy New Year! I hope Santa brought you everything you wished for and you all had a well deserved break. Typically I’ve started off the New Year with another cold which is exactly how I went into 2019. π€§ But unlike 2019 (and the past few years to be honest), I’ve decided to set myself 20 goals for 2020.
This has been greatly inspired by Britt who shared her 2020 bucket list at the end of year, then challenged others to do the same. Her list included a great mix of personal goals and inspired me to come up with my own list of goals. So I guess you can say, “challenge accepted”. π
The purpose of this list is to serve as a reminder for me but also to encourage others as well. And I plan to review this list on my blog in 6 months time. But this may be done earlier if my goals change or need adapting for any reason.
Here are my 20 Goals for 2020
1 β Become Debt Free by the End of April 2020
2 β Spend at Least One Hour Outside Everyday
This one is inspired by Splodz Blogz, and will include anything from walking to water sports. During my working week this will be half an hour on my lunch break, and half an hour in the evening.
3 β Read 12 Books
One a month?
4 β Have a Professional Photo Shoot
This will either be a mother-daughter or couples one… Or both?
5 β Splurge on Something on My Wish List
I’m terrible at spending money on myself, or treating myself, so this one will be a real challenge for me.
6 β Visit at Least One of Westonbirt Arbortoreum‘s Partner Gardens
As ‘Friends of Westonbirt‘ we get free or discounted entry to most of their partner gardens, but haven’t visited any of them yet.
7 β Hike a Mountain
This will likely be Scafell Pike
8 β Go on a Weekend City Break to Somewhere Iβve Never Stayed Before
This means it can also be somewhere I’ve visited on a day trip only.
9 β Star Gazing
Something my family and I used to do in our gardrn when my sister and I were little, that I’d like to try again.
10 β Bake Something
Baking used to be one of my favourite hobbies but it’s been so long since I’ve baked anything. So I’d like to change that this year.
11 β Cross Off at Least Two Items From My Exposure Therapy Hierarchy
E.g. Solo cinema trip, using public transport by myself, etc.
12 β Explore Cheddar Gorge and Caves
13 β Organise My Bedroom
Which will more than likely involve a trip to Ikea to look at storage solutions.
14 β Have a Picnic at Westonbirt Arbortoreum
15 β Hike to One of the Following:
- Bulford Kiwi, Wiltshire
- Cerne Giant, Dorset
- Osmington White Horse, Dorset
- Uffington White Horse, Oxfordshire
16 β Swim at The Tinside Lido, Plymouth
17 β Ride the Weston–Super–Mare Ferris Wheel
18 β Helicopter Ride Over the Cotswolds
19 β Add Meditation or Relaxation Techinques to My Self Care Routine
20 β Attend a Yoga Class (or Similar, e.g. Pilates, Tai–Chi, or a Combination Class)
This will be hard for me due to social anxiety and agoraphobia but would be good exposure therapy. An alternative will be to do yoga at home on a daily basis.
What goals have you set for 2020? Let me know in the comments. π

I really like the idea of having a mini-bucket list for the year. My goals are usually achievement oriented., but this has helped me realize I need to have some goals that are more experience oriented. Great idea, great post. Thanks!

I absolutely adore the idea of spending one hour outside every day – you’ve inspired me to make that one of my 2020 goals as well. π Good luck to you, gal. xx

Oh I would LOVE to go to Plymouth Lido. We tried on our way back from Cornwall last year but the weather was so pants we gave up. And Westonbirt is still on my To Visit list, we don’t live that far away so I’m not sure why I haven’t ticked it off yet. Great bucket list, Kim, good luck with everything, it’s so nice to have things to look forward to! x

Ah no, I hope youβre feeling better now and donβt have a cold anymore! 2020 is the first year Iβve decided to set goals for myself for the year. Spending more time outside is something I aim to be more of this year, hoping to get back to my running 3 times a week π Reading more is one of my goals as well! I really fell short of my goodreads reading challenge, so hoping this year I do a lot better!
Here’s to hoping you tick off every one of your goals!

Great post! This list is really inclusive and covers a lot of ground in a manageable way. I like how you include lots of different items, all of which can be achieved while still pushing you outside of your comfort zone. It’s inspiring! Thank you for sharing, and best of luck.

Love your list, most of them I could use myself. I really need to make a list of my goals. I also like that you plan to revisit your list in 6 months.

I love your goal of spending at least an hour outside everyday and it has now become one of mine too! I realise in 2019 sometimes I spent days at a time before leaving the house so I definitely need to make a more of an effort to leave. Good luck with all of your other goals too!

Great goals, I hope you manage to achieve them all. I love Cheddar gorge although it feels like years since I’ve been. This year, main goal is to do the things I always say I want too. For example they have the sand sculptures at Weston super mare that I always say I want to see but never get round to it. Likewise this year I am determined to go to Westonbirt!

Great goals and wishing you all the best with them! Sorry to hear you entered the new year with a cold, it always puts a dampener on any new routines I find! π Best of luck especially with ticking things off your exposure hierarchy, I’ve been there. The thought of it is always scary but you feel so empowered when you’ve done it! Xx

I love reading other peoples’ goals! I hope to visit two new countries next year and will likely be Honduras and Iceland. I also hope to read at least 52 books (my job allows for a lot of Internet-free down time) and explore more of the West Coast USA where I live! Best of luck in 2020 x

Great goals! As you know, a solo cinema trip is on my 2020 goal list too. I know I’ll be fine with it, it’s just finding the time for me personally. But I’m sure you’ll do brilliantly with all of these! xxx

Great goals, it looks like you’ll be planning lots of fun trips. I really like that this is a mix of more lifestyle stuff and fun stuff. So many people include goals like eat better etc and forget to include things like events or travel. I hope you manage everything x

Read 12 books is also something I am working towards for 2020! I have technically done 2 already but they were just poetry anthologies so I want to get 12 books beyond those.

I think those count! I’ve seen some who count comic books too – anything that isn’t a magazine or a screen. π Sadly I read nothing last year.

Ohh Number 12! Heartily recommend. If you get a chance when you get a ticket for the caves it gives you entry to both the main cave and the dream cave a short walk away. Love visiting Cheddar (admittedly mostly for the cheese!) whenever I get down to Somerset, such a lovely little village to visit and some great cheese and cider as well.

Thanks for your comment and the tip! I’ve only ever driven through the gorge itself so need to stop and explore. π

Oooo these are great! Fingers crossed for getting yourself-debt free, too. I’m curious about those photoshoots, I kind of really want to do one (and kind of really don’t as I have my photo being taken π) I’m just curious if they can perform magic! I hope you have a great year ahead, Kim, start ticking off some of your bucket list goals π
