Have You Ever? Tag – Convention Edition

For me, the end of July usually means London Film and Comic Con, which is one of the highlights of the convention calendar for me. It also marks the Summer – Autumn convention season, which means I get to spend time with my convention family and like minded people. But sadly, like most large events most conventions been put on hold until later in the year. 🙁 Which is a shame. I’ve really missed going to conventions this year and being able to see my comic con family. So, when I stumbled up the ‘Have You Ever? Convention Edition’ tag on A Geek Girls Guide, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share my love of conventions with you all.

Have You Ever Tag – Convention Edition

Have you ever wanted to attend a specific con?

I’ve always wanted to attend San Diego Comic Con or the Official Stargate Convention.

Have you ever traveled far to go to a con?

Yes, I’ve traveled overseas to Germany for a convention once. It was a fandom convention for the US TV series ‘Queer as Folk’, which I went to with one of my closest friends Sarah.

Have you ever attended the same con multiple times?

Yep! I’ve been to London Film and Comic Con, MCM Birmingham Expo, Hallowhedon and Eternal Twilight countless times.

Have you ever gone to a signing or photo op?

So many! My first signing session was with Colin Baker from Doctor Who and he was also my first photo op.

Have you ever cosplayed at a con?

A few times. My first cosplay was a Lornette from the TV series Angel, it was at Hallowhedon and I got some lovely comments. I’d always loved fancy dress so cosplay was something I wanted to try. My next cosplay was a year later at Hallowhedon as Kaylee Frye from the TV series Firefly. I had so much fun being Kaylee! There was a group of us cosplaying characters from the show and so many people stopped us for photos. It was also one of the most comfortable outfits I’ve worn so far!

Other characters I’ve cosplayed include Alice Cullen from Twilight (in her baseball outfit), Jessica Hamby from the TV series True Blood, Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, and Kara Danvers from DC’s TV series Supergirl.

Have you ever worked at a con?

I have! My mum and I were crew members at Gloucester comic con. We helped to direct attendees to various areas, looked at the guests tables, and I spent time in the talk stage area. It was hard work! We were on our feet all day, and had very little time for a break.
