Have you ever? Fandom Edition

Being a geek I have a fair share of favourite fandoms, the main ones being Buffy the vampire slayer and Star Wars, but there are others too (like Doctor Who and True Blood). So when I saw that Michelle of A Geek Girls Guide had created a tag specifically for fandoms, I couldn’t resist.

Because, to me, my love of fandoms has given me so many wonderful experiences, from meeting my idols at comic conventions, to making life long friendships.

So, let’s get started…

‘Have You Ever?’ Tag – Fandom Edition

Have you ever made fan art?

Yes, I used to draw Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Disney, and cartoon characters when I was a teenager.

Have you ever written fan fiction?

Nope. Never. But I have read a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Hunger Games and Twilight fan fiction in the past.

Have your ever gone to a special event for a fandom? (midnight releases, etc.)

Yep! I’ve been to a lot actually, including fandom specific conventions for the likes of Twilight, Joss Whedon shows and True Blood (sensing a vampire theme here?), the midnight release of the last Harry Potter book; the Deathly Hallows and an autograph signing with Stephanie Meyer for The Host.

Have you ever been active in a fandom community online?

A few times – most notably Whedonesque, which is for fans of Joss Whedon’s work.

Have you ever made friends because of mutual fandoms?

Yep! I’ve made some of my closest friends through fandom specific conventions. We’ve even been on some wonderful holidays and staycations together.

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to this tag. It was a lot of fun for me to reminisce a little about some of my favourite fandoms.

But what about you? Have you ever done any of these things for your favourite fandom (or fandoms)? Let me know in the comments.
