Teeth Falling Out Dream Meanings and Interpretations
Have you ever woken up from a particularly strange, or even horrific, dream and wondered what it could mean? Me too. Which is why I’ll often write them down and try to interpret them. It’s something I’ve always been curious about; ever since I read about dreams in an old ‘Mind, Body and Spirit’ magazine as a teenager. That’s not to say I necessarily believe in dream meanings, but certainly find it interesting. Especially the more obscure ones – like my teeth falling out, which is a recurring one I’ve been having recently.
In the dream, my teeth are falling out, but there doesn’t seem to be a reason for it; they’re not rotting, they’re white and look healthy but they keep falling out… With a lot of blood too! Which makes me wonder what the dream could mean…Is it my subconscious trying to tell me something? Worries playing on my mind? Or am I going to lose my teeth(!)?
While I’ve been having these dreams, my wisdom teeth have also started to come through which I think is the reason behind them. But I thought it would be interesting to see how others interpret missing teeth dreams and what my own dreams could mean.
Teeth Falling Out – Possible dream meanings
According to experts dreams about your teeth falling out are one of the most common, and symbolic, but it’s all subjective. Some believe that dreams stem from our subconscious, while others say they’re only natural biological processes. I like to think it’s a little of both.
So, after doing some research on-line I have found a few things relevant to my life at the moment that could explain the dreams – that aren’t due to my wisdom teeth. 😉 Although that’s also a common reason as growing new teeth can also be the meaning of this particular dream.
Someone in your family is sick
In Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

My Nan is currently in hospital and has been so for the last month or so, she has been very poorly and we are worried we’re going to lose her.
The mythology of the tooth fairy bringing money
It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolises money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.

The last dream was near payday.
A new chapter in your life
It can show the beginning of a new phase of life just as we lose our teeth when we pass from early childhood and head towards adulthood.

My three-year relationship ended in February so, in a way, I am starting a new chapter in my life.
You don’t feel attractive
Your teeth help to convey an image of attractiveness and play an important role in the game of flirtation, whether it is flashing those pearly white, kissing or necking. Thus, such dreams may stem from a fear of rejection, sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old.

Again, this dream could be a result of my recent break-up.
Finally, growing new teeth is common for this dream
For younger children and adolescents who are still growing out of their baby teeth, it’s possible to have dreams about the growth of new adult (permanent) teeth.
As I mentioned earlier, my wisdom teeth are coming through, but it’s certainly clear that anyone of these dream meanings could be the reason I keep having them. There’s definitely been a lot on my mind lately.
Interpreting nightmares
Another recurring dream – or should I say nightmare – I’ve been having lately is about ants. Which is awful for someone with an ant phobia (myrmecophobia) like me. In the dreams, I’m trying to run or escape from a large ant colony, often climbing a large pillar or structure to try and get myself off the ground.
I hate these dreams! They often wake me up and leave me feeling quite panicked. But it’s interesting to note that often nightmares can be a sign of good things to come. Take my ant dreams for example – although there any many negative aspects associated with the dream, it can also mean good things for your business.
Ants also symbolize hard work, diligence, cooperation and industry. Increase business activities are expected.
Thinking about my own life, this could be related to my recent promotion at work. Or how we’re busy getting ready for our Spring/Summer stock to arrive.
What do you think of these interpretations? Do you think there is some hidden meaning behind dreams? Or are they simply a natural biological process? Let me know in the comments.
