Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Home

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner which for many means a day dedicated to celebrating your loved ones. Whether that means going out for dinner, watching the latest movie, or maybe even letting your hair down at a singles night with your friends. It’s the perfect opportunity to show your loved ones you care – not that you should wait for this one day a year, of course! There’s no reason you can’t show people you care all year round. 😊 Especially if you haven’t been able to see them in a while. 💕

It’s also important to remember that you can celebrate your loved ones where ever you are, and there are so many ways you can show you care from your own home too. In fact, most of my own Valentine’s Day celebrations – if you can call it that! – have been spent watching movies with some heart shaped snacks. Especially those of the baked variety!

So today I’d like to share a few of my favourite ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home – and the great thing is they’re not only for couples! Even if your single, or think Valentine’s Day is pretty cringe worthy, there’s no reason you can’t pamper yourself, or a family member, with one of these ideas too. I know I’ll be treating myself to a well deserved spa night! 🛁

Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Home

Valentine’s breakfast in bed

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day so why not start your Valentine’s Day off right with breakfast in bed. You could make your favourite breakfast foods, have food delivered to you, or even theme your breakfast with red and pink colour schemes or heart shapes, like these pancakes.

Head Outside

Whether you choose to go for a day hike, a lazy walk through your local park, or a stroll around a national forest (such as Westonbirt Arboretum). Make sure to wrap up warm, grab some picnic food, and enjoy the day together. You could even go one step further and try making your own Valentine’s Day themed food, such as pastries, chocolates, cookies, cold pasta dishes, etc.

Movie Night In

There are so many great Valentine’s Day themed movies, from feel good ones like Letters to Juliet to teen comedies like The Kissing Booth. So pick a few of your favourites, grab some snacks and join your loved ones for a good ole’ movie night in.

Not a fan romantic movies? There are also many unconventional movies you can try, from horrors such as My Bloody Valentine, to family films like The Addams Family. This year we’re having a Lord of the Rings marathon, because, why not!

Valentine’s Dinner at Home

Set the table, grab a bottle of your favourite drink and surprise your partner with their favourite home cooked meal, or even cook something new together. Just don’t forget something indulgent for dessert!

Don’t fancy cooking? You could also order food from your favourite take-away as a special treat.

Valentine’s Day At Home Spa Night

One of my favourite ways to relax and unwind after a long day is with a hot bubble bath. So why not surprise your partner by lighting some candles and running one for them? Bonus points if you pop their towel or robe on a radiator to warm up.

Another great option is to pop on a face mask, listen to some chilled music and give your skin a well deserved pamper session. You could also do this with your friends as a Galentine’s Day evening in too!

Have a Games Night

There are lots of fun games you could try at home this Valentine’s Day, from two players games such as chess or drafts, co-op video games like Minecraft, or even card games (our go-to is Uno!). They’re a great way to show off your competitive side – just don’t forget some prizes for the winner(s)! 😉

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? How will you be celebrating at home this year?
