Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tag

If you’re a regular reader you’ll know that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my all-time favourite show. I’ve been watching Buffy since it first aired in the UK back in the late 90s and have re-watched it countless times since. Along with its spin-off show Angel. I know the show so well, I often find myself reciting the lines before the characters have the chance to. Which I’m told is very annoying by my family members!

Buffy dealt with so many issues faced by both teenagers and young adults, from depression to addiction and, female empowerment and even sexual orientation. If it wasn’t for Willow and Tara on Buffy I don’t think I would have been as comfortable coming out (as bi-sexual) to my parents. I may never have done it. The show showed me that it is OK to be you, it helped me through some dark times and is always there for me on a sick day too.

Buffy will always be a large part of my life which is why I’m celebrating its birthday today with another Buffy tag, which I found on Rooting Branches blog.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tag

1. Who is your favourite Scooby?

Female: Willow, Male: Oz or Spike

2.Non-Scooby character?

Probably Faith, although she was part of the Scooby Gang for a while, so I’ll say Drusilla.

3. What’s your favourite overall season? Why?

Season 3. I felt the show found its feet in the third season and I enjoyed Buffy’s high school years more so than the other seasons.

4. Which are your top 5 episodes?

Once More With Feeling, Hush, Grave, Graduation Day Pt1 and 2, The Gift.

5. Favourite season final?

Graduation Day Pt1 and 2

6. Overall least favourite character?

Warren! For the sole fact that he killed Tara.

7. Who is your favourite villain?

Either The Master or Mayor Wilkins. Oh, or Angelus…. The more I think about it, the more names pop into my head.

8. Favourite Buffyverse couple?

Willow and Tara.

9. Which character do you think had the most development over the course of the show?

Willow.

10. If you could change one thing about the series, what would it be?

Most of season 7 to be honest, it felt rushed; especially with the introduction of so many new characters.

11. Did you watch the spin-off, Angel? Your thoughts?

Yes! I thought it was a lot darker than Buffy which is what I loved most about it.

12. If another character had a spin-off – whether now or whilst the show was running – who would you of chosen?

Either Faith or Giles (in his “Ripper” days).

13. How and when did you discover the world of Sunnydale?

I had recently watched Scream 2 on VHS and saw a poster of “Cee-Cee” at a local market store. For those that don’t know Sarah Michelle Gellar played the role of Cee-Cee, and that poster happened to be of her as Buffy. I was intrigued by the words ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ written on the corner and, the rest, as they say, is history.

14. Best quote from the show?

Buffy’s speech from Earshot

“My life happens on occasion to suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle. And it’s not just mine. Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they’re too busy with their own. The beautiful ones. The popular ones. The guys that pick on you. Everyone. If you could hear what they were feeling. The loneliness. The confusion. It looks quiet down there. It’s not. It’s deafening.”

15. Lastly, what is your favourite hidden message in BTVS?

That not all monsters wear masks.

Have you watched Buffy? What are some of your favourite episodes or characters? And if you’d like to do the Buffy tag, please feel free! But let me know so I can read your answers.

I watched a few series of Buffy but not all. I kind of lost a little interest after Angel disappeared for a few episodes and didn’t really get back into it again until Spike showed up, although I did feel his character development was a little shoehorned. Fun tag, Kim, I might have to give them all another go! Lisa x

I loved watching BtVS back when it was huge and had all the boxsets on VHS! I wonder how it would feel to watch it again now?
