  • Crudwell Strawberry Fayre 2016

The Crudwell Strawberry Fayre is an annual event in the small town of Crudwell, in the Cotswolds. We’ve been going as a family for as long as I can remember and this year marks the strawberry fayre’s 29th year. When I was younger my parents had a stall in the craft tent; the show has evolved over the year’s and there are now stalls along the green as opposed to…

  • Prophecy | Buffy the Vampire Slayer convention

Prophecy was this past weekend – a three day convention for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and my first convention by this organiser (Rouge Events) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The main draw for me was meeting Alyson Hannigan but unfortunately she cancelled 3 weeks before the event. 🙁 I was gutted! As were many others who had purchased tickets to the convention. The company actually had…

  • Cirencester Patron’s Lunch

Today (Sunday 12th), the grounds of the Royal Agricultural University were transformed into a classic, British street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Mirroring the national ‘street party’ celebration taking place on the Mall in London. The driveway was lined with tables and decorated with bunting and balloons. The tables could be reserved, for a fee, which included a hamper, many people were also having picnis on the playing…

  • Swindon Film and Comic Con 2016

This past weekend was Swindon Film and Comic Con (not to be confused with Swind-Con that I went to earlier this year – different organisers) which was held at The Steam Museum, Swindon. See Mr. Stay Puft watching over things in the background? 😉 I love smaller conventions, they’re a lot quieter and tend to be more personal. This one was very well organised, the staff were knowledgeable and helpful,…

  • MCM Expo London 2016

Today (Saturday) was my first time attending MCM Expo London and it will probably be the last. Queuing to get in the venue, getting our tickets scanned and getting our wrist bands was flawless, couldn’t fault it but there were so many organisational errors once we got inside the venue! It nearly ruined the day. We booked tickets in advance, as they were selling out and likely to be none…

  • Mother’s Day at Swind-Con

March 6th was Mother’s day in the UK (I know some countries celebrate it in May) and my dad and I took my mum out to Swind-Con for the day on the Saturday held at M.E.C.A. in Swindon. Her choice! We started off for breakfast in our usual café (Brogans) where I had a bacon and cheese panini, mum had poached egg on toast and dad had a “Brogan’s breakfast”…

  • Spring London Film and Comic Con – Nick Frost

This weekend was Spring London Film and Comic Con and I headed down on the Saturday to meet Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Attack the Block, Hot Fuzz etc) and catch up with some friends. The day started early with us catching the coach to London at around 5am so we could get in the queue early and have a better chance at meeting Nick Frost, it’s never guaranteed…

  • Back to the Future

October 2015 was the time Marty McFly travelled to the future in Back to the Future part 2. Specifically on October 21st, which also happens to be Ryan’s birthday. I was lucky enough to attend the official 30th anniversary of Back to the Future reunion at London Film and Comic con this year, there was a lot of Back to the Future merchandise around (hoverboards (they didn’t hover though, so…

  • Euro Militaire 2015

More or less every year since I was 6 or 7, my family and I have taken a trip to Kent in September for Euro Militaire. It is known as the world’s premier military modelling show. Euro Militaire 2015 is its 30th anniversary show. My dad has entered some of his models into the competition in the past and one various awards. He is currently working on a 2 year…
