London Film and Comic Con 2018

Last month my family and I made our yearly trip to the Olympia Exhibition Centre for London Film and Comic con (LFCC). The event is held over three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the end of July and the highlight of the convention calendar for me. The show gets bigger every year and, in my opinion, this year’s line up was fantastic. With big names such as Jason Mamoa (Aquaman, Game of Thrones), Sam Neil (Jurassic Park), Meat Loaf and Steven Seagal attending the event. Along with not one, not two, but eight doctors from Doctor Who appearing over […]

The Great Western Brick Show

This weekend my family and I attended the Great Western brick show at the Steam Museum, Swindon. It’s a Lego show but you’ll find no kits on display here (albeit plenty in the dealers room 😉 ). All the Lego displays are customs! Some big, some small but all very impressive. The great thing about the Great Western brick show is the location. It’s in a steam railway museum and you get to tour the museum as you find your way to the different Lego displays, there’s also a great on site cafe selling hot and cold food and, cupcakes! […]

Euro Miniature Expo

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that my family attend a hobbyist modelling show every September, Euro Militaire. Unfortunately last year saw the end of the show, which I’m told was primarily due to dwindling attendance in recent years. I spoke last year how there were less models in the competition and no military displays as there had been in previous years. Dad was especially disappointed that 2016 was the last Euro Militaire and the end of a family tradition. ☹ While hunting around for information and to confirm if the rumours regarding the shows end […]

The Phoenix Festival 2017

The day after Reading festival, Ryan and I decided to go to another festival, and this one was a lot closer to home – The Phoenix festival in Cirencester. It’s a two day event held in Cirencester’s Abbey Grounds and 2017 celebrates its 5th birthday. The festival focuses on local musicians – one of my favourite local bands, Subslider, performed Saturday afternoon – and tribute artists. This year’s headline acts were Los Palmas 6 (Madness tribute) and David Live (David Bowie tribute). The event has two main stages, an open mic stage, a DJ booth and a performer’s arena. It’s very […]

Day ticket to Reading festival 2017

Ryan and I bought a day ticket to Reading festival last Saturday, mostly to see headline act, Eminem! We’ve both been fans of his for the past 20 years or so but have never seen him live. This was our first festival experience! We left early Saturday morning and made the short trip down the motorway to Reading, rain had been forecast most of the week but it turned out to be glorious sunshine on the day. 🌞🌡 Once we got to the festival and parked up we had a 25 minute walk from the car park to the festival […]

The Gloucestershire Steam and Vintage Extravaganza 2017

The Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage extravaganza A.K.A. The South Cerney steam rally was last weekend and I went along on the Saturday with my family, another yearly tradition we have. 🙂 Unfortunately it rained. A lot. We were constantly darting in and out of the marquees and trade stands in a vain attempt to stay dry, but it didn’t spoil the show for us! I’m very glad I wore my boots and took a jacket with me. We started off with breakfast (bacon rolls) from our favourite food stand but there are also areas to have a picnic (unsurprisingly we […]
