My Dream Christmas

Last year Aaron asked me what my dream Christmas would be. Specifically where would I spend it? What would I do? And more importantly, who would I spend it with?

To be honest, my ‘dream Christmas’, isn’t something I’ve ever thought much about before. However, I did give it a lot of thought when he first asked me, and more so now, as we’re entering the Christmas period again.

I ultimately decided that my dream Christmas would be to spend the holidays in a log cabin. Actually if I’m honest, my initial response was New York City. But the more I thought about it, the idea of visiting New York in early December instead became more appealing to me. So spending Christmas in a log cabin became my first choice. My dream Christmas location.

So, Where would I spend it?

The cabin itself would be located in the woods, preferably near a lake, so somewhere in the Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire) or Brecon Beacons (Wales) could be great choices. Although I’d prefer it to be snowing or for there to snow on the ground. Aaron actually suggested the Scottish Highlands as a possible location, which sounds perfect.

Inside the cabin would be a log burning fireplace, a generous sized Christmas tree, and of course, a dining table for our roast turkey dinner. We’d likely invite our immediate family to join us, but I think it would also be a great little staycation for the two of us. A log cabin just fills me with cosy vibes; snuggling up under a blanket with a few candles going, watching one of our favourite Christmas movies.

We’d wake up early Christmas morning and open presents in the living room, followed by Christmas dinner. I’ve always liked the idea of a Christmas walk to burn it off afterwards, but never actually taken one! Even though I live in the Cotswold countryside which is full of great places to explore on foot.

So a long walk in the snow exploring the lakeside, would be the ideal after dinner activity for me. I’d have my phone in hand snapping photos of the scenery, us, and the occasional selfie. This would be followed by some board games when we got back – one of our Christmas traditions.

That evening we’ll sit down by the fire, I’ll have a hot chocolate in hand, and watch more Christmas movies, or perhaps a Doctor Who Christmas special. Of course snacks will be a must-have! I’ve been loving Popcorn Shed’s vegan caramel popcorn recently, it’s delicious; so I’d probably tuck into that, or Haribo.

What would be your dream Christmas?

I do like the sound of a log cabin and a log fire at Christmas. Plus lots of hot chocolate and snacks to nibble on while you snuggle up and watch the Christmas Day special on TV. I’m with you though, the idea of a walk always sounds much better than reality, haha! Lisa

This sounds lovely, and a great idea for a post! I’ve never really thought about this before. I’ve never been to New York for Christmas but I have been for New Year and can confirm it isn’t great in late December. I’m not sure where I’d spend my dream Christmas! x

Oooh! I haven’t heard of a dream Christmas before but this sounds pretty neat. I haven’t been to NYC before but I love all of the celebrations out there. Though, it is always nice to chill and enjoy your time indoors. Thanks for sharing your dream Christmas!
