Sunday lunch at The Golden Farm, Cirencester

Last month, the Sunday after my mum’s birthday in fact, my parents treated me to Sunday lunch at the newly reopened Golden Farm pub, it’s local to us with a rustic decor – farm animal art work, a plough hanging from the ceiling and a hare statue which is part of the Cotswold Hare trail (I’ll have to remember to take some photos next time). For lunch they were offering a main course for £9.95 with a choice of beef, chicken, pork, lamb. I had the chicken and my parents both had the pork, all the dishes were served with Read More…

The Phoenix Festival

The day after Reading festival, Ryan and I decided to go to another festival, and this one was a lot closer to home – The Phoenix festival in Cirencester. It’s a two day event held in Cirencester’s Abbey Grounds and 2017 celebrates its 5th birthday. The festival focuses on local musicians – one of my favourite local bands, Subslider, performed Saturday afternoon – and tribute artists. This year’s headline acts were Los Palmas 6 (Madness tribute) and David Live (David Bowie tribute). The event has two main stages, an open mic stage, a DJ booth and a performer’s arena. It’s very Read More…

Day ticket to Reading festival 2017

Ryan and I bought a day ticket to Reading festival last Saturday, mostly to see headline act, Eminem! We’ve both been fans of his for the past 20 years or so but have never seen him live. This was our first festival experience! We left early Saturday morning and made the short trip down the motorway to Reading, rain had been forecast most of the week but it turned out to be glorious sunshine on the day. 🌞🌡 Once we got to the festival and parked up we had a 25 minute walk from the car park to the festival Read More…

Healthy lunch: Tuna and mixed bean pasta salad

I’ve been trying to ‘spice up’ my lunches at work after getting bored of sandwiches and getting into a bad habit of choosing unhealthy snacks from Tesco meal deals! At Weight Watchers these past couple of weeks we’ve been talking about proteins, good carbohydrates and good fats. I made this pasta dish for lunch last week and really enjoyed it, so much in fact that I made it again this week! You will need One tin of tuna in spring water, drained One tin of mixed beans, drained and rinsed Wholewheat pasta Fresh basil Lemon juice Method Cook 75g of Read More…

What’s in my bag – festival edition

Ryan and I are heading to a couple of festivals at the end of August – Reading Festival and The Pheonix Festival, both are full weekend events but we’re only spending one day at each as they’re on the same weekend. We’ve been to the Phoenix festival once before, last year in fact but Reading will be our first major festival experience! I’m really looking forward to both of them. I’ve been thinking about what essentials I’ll need to take with me for both festivals. Ticket – Obvious one but worth mentioning, you’d be horrified if you travelled all that Read More…

No bake banoffee cheesecake

My mum’s birthday was Friday, we went out that night and listened to live music at a local bar followed by presents and an Indian takeaway Saturday evening. For my dad’s birthday I made a Double Decker cheesecake which was such a hit my mum requested a cheesecake for her birthday too. We chose banoffee which is one of her favourite flavours, it had a digestive base topped with mashed bananas, mascarpone and double cream for the filling, and decorated with pipped caramel and slices of fresh banana. You will need. For the base 300g Digestives 150g Butter For the filling Read More…
